On the 19th we left for a weeks vacation at the Lair of the Bear. We stayed at Camp Oski, the smallest of the 3 Cal Berkeley Family Camps. (As a child I spent 5 summers at Camp Blue) Abby spent most of the week enjoying activities in the KK ( aka the Kub Korral) with Julian, Sarah & Kyle, spending time hanging with her new friends Gracie & Danny, and getting very dirty. Abby loved the bug juice, and the Cocoa Puffs at breakfast - something she never has at home.
Towards the beginning of the week I decided it would be a good idea to give Abby a shower and at least get some of the dirt & creek water off of her. (She thought it would be lots of fun to do a summer sault in the creek. I so wish I had the video camera on when she did that. I don't think she really meant to) Let's just say I think people in Nevada could hear her screaming. After that I decided to just let the pool be her bath.
Logan also got a bath towards the beginning of the week after he dumped a bucket full of dirt over his head. His bath went over much better than the shower incident, however when it came to sleeping at night Logan did horribly. He would go to bed ok, but then wake up several times in the middle of the night screaming and then not go back down. So he ended up spending 5 of the 7 nights in a twin bed with me that tilted. I of course spent most of the night in a light sleep making sure he didn't roll of the bed and get wedge between the wall and the bed. ( god I hope his sleep habits will go back to normal and if not least at home I can let him scream his head off.)
In all the kids had a great week, and we will be looking forward to going back next year.

High wire balls
Ever wonder how the helicopter warning/safety balls on the power lines across Hwy 24, the Alamont pass, the San Mateo Bridge or Hwy580 ever got there.... well Abby has definitely wondered that, and asked me the other day " who kicked them up there."

Teeth
A day or two before leaving for Tahoe one of Logan's top two front teeth started pushing threw the gum, and while in Tahoe the other tooth started coming thru. Neither are far enough thru yet for a good picture. Maybe now he will stop being so clingy. Some days it seems like I just can't put him down.
Tahoe Fun
Tuesday Morning the kids and I left to meet Grandma & Papa in Late Tahoe. We didn't go out side too terribly much since it was incredibly smokey (the locals said the smoke was from a fire burning near Paradise, and one near Auburn). Wednesday afternoon we took the kids to the beach, where it started snowing ash. We decided to pack up and head back to the house. Thursday night Chris and Larissa showed up,and Friday the 5 of us ventured down the Truckee River. Logan did amazingly well. I was rather worried about how he would do, since he is my fussy one( Rumor has it is the last year there will be rafting offered down the river :( ) Friday night Chris's friends Joe & Michelle showed up. On Saturday we all ventured back to the beach. Larissa, Michelle and I walked the kids quiet a ways out and let them "swim". Basically we held the kids and let them kick around in the water. Both Abby & Logan had a lot of fun kicking and splashing. Sunday morning I got up bright and early to repack the car and head home.

Thank Goodness for...
... Aunts, well in Logan's case Great Aunts. This morning my little man woke up with a pretty good fever and pretty grumpy. He ate breakfast, and went down for a nap shortly there after since he didn't sleep to well last night. When he woke up I gave him some milk. He drank about half of it and threw in on the floor, then started to fuss. I picked him and the milk up and sat him on my lap. Nope, wasn't having it either. So I put his head on my shoulder and the next thing I knew the whole back side of me and the floor we covered in throw up! YUCK! Jason and Abby had left for Targer just prior to me getting drenched, so I grabbed the phone to call my Aunt. Thank goodness she was home, and able to come down. She cleanned up little man so I could clean up the floors and myself. Logan has since taken 2 naps, held down liquids, although he isn't super thristy, and has been in a pretty good mood dispite everything.

Happy 4th
This morning the kids went to Alameda's Annual 4th of July Parade. Abby thought it was pretty cool. Logan wasn't quiet sure in the beginning, but eventually warmed up.

In the late afternoon the kids headed over to Auntie's for a good old fashion 4th of July party with lots of great food, and entertainment.

I'm ready....
Next week the kids and I leave to meet Grandma & Papa in Lake Tahoe. Uncle Chris & Larissa are coming up at the end of the week to help me take the kids rafting down the Truckee. I'm hoping with the lack of snow and rain we had that there will be enough water for us to even go. And yes, I know i am totally nutz to attempt to take 2 kids down the Truckee. To prepare for the trip I pulled Abby's old life jacket out, and let Logan practice wearing it.

As you can see he thought it was pretty cool. Let's just hope he still thinks that after wearing it bucked up for an hour or two.
